Beannchor breathes life into Belfast propertyBy Matthew Ord, Digital Staff Writer
A £400,000 investment by hospitality group Beannchor in the former National Bank building in Belfast will create 60 jobs.
The group is launching Sixty6, a cocktail bar and nightclub, in December above its National Grande Café on High Street.
The investment will return the upper levels of the grade B building to "their former glory" and will conjure "the glamour of a classic Victorian gentleman's club".
Conall Wolsey, director at Beannchor Group, said the opening of Sixty6 would provide an economic boost to both Cathedral Quarter and the wider hospitality industry.
"As we continue to grow, we are creating a solid foundation for the development of rewarding long-term careers," added Wolsey.
"As a major employer of over 650 people, Beannchor is committed to investing in its people; these new roles - and all of our employment opportunities - are underpinned by ongoing staff training, development and rewards schemes that will drive the improvement of service standards in our own venues and right across the industry."
The venue marks £1.1m of investment by the group in the Cathedral Quarter, during which time it has created 120 jobs.
Beannchor's portfolio includes more than 50 pubs, hotels and restaurants across Northern Ireland.
Sixty6 will officially open on Thursday 4 December 2014.
