SD Bell & Co brews up expansionBy Matthew Ord, Digital Staff Writer
A tea and coffee specialist has invested in a major refurbishment of its East Belfast premises, which could lead to employment opportunities, after receiving funding from Danske Bank.
SD Bell & Co has renovated its Tea and Coffee House by increasing the size of the site after removing internal walls to expand into the entire building.
As a result of the investment, the company has underpinned existing jobs and has the potential to create more.
Managing director Robert Bell said: "SD Bell’s has a very strong family heritage and long-established, loyal customer base, so it was important that any changes we made to the premises during our refurbishment did not in any way affect its strong sense of culture and ambience.
"The team at Danske Bank were very open to our business proposition and put in place invaluable financial support."
Daniele Delahunt, business manager at Danske Bank, added: "This company serves as an excellent example of how a family business can preserve and build upon its long heritage, while also investing in technologies such as e-commerce, free-access Wi-Fi and social networking to increase its sales and meet the demands of the modern consumer."
The company sells its product online and across Northern Ireland in venues such as St George’s Market, La Mon Hotel and the George Best Belfast City Airport
In 2012 SD Bell & Co celebrated 125 years in business with Robert Bell marking the fourth generation of uninterrupted family leadership.
