CAMRx snapped up by Cambrian Alliance
Leicestershire pharmacy group CAMRx has been acquired by Cambrian Alliance in a deal that creates one of the largest buying and support groups in the UK pharmacy sector.
Whitwick-based CAMRx, led by Rajni Hindocha, was bought by Cardiff-headquartered Cambrian Alliance, which was formed in 2000 to increase its members’ profitability by offering support and negotiating buying power for independent pharmacies
The new organisation will have 1,200 members, although the businesses will remain separate entities for the "foreseeable future".
Hindocha said: "I am personally extremely pleased with what this agreement will mean for both organisations’ memberships and I look forward to working with the group to expand the benefits we are able to offer.
"I am certain that this partnership will offer independent pharmacies across the country a real opportunity to expand and prosper."
BDO's corporate finance team advised CAMRx.
Satvir Bungar, M&A director at BDO, added: "The sector has become very active in the M&A market, as organisations drive to enhance buying power with global pharmaceutical groups.
"This deal represents a great strategic fit for both organisations and their members. Importantly, it also highlights the local appetite for consolidation and growth as organisations aim to increase market share."
