KPMG launches enterprise offering for SMEs

KPMG is today (21 October 2014) launching a new small business accounting service as part of a £40m investment as it aims to expand its offer to smaller companies.

The launch of KPMG Enterprise comes as research undertaken on behalf of the firm by YouGov revealed that 67 per cent of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the West Midlands and 78 per cent in the East Midlands think the government could do more to support small businesses.

KPMG Enterprise will offer select online accounting and tax services - including accounts, bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and corporate tax returns - to SMEs via the cloud.

Mike Steventon, Midlands regional chairman at KPMG, said: "At its heart, KPMG Enterprise sees us extend our longstanding heritage and the deep knowledge gained from working with medium and large businesses across the UK to the small business sector.

"From start-ups in their infancy to more established middle market companies, our ambition is to work with privately-owned businesses from inception, through every stage of their lifecycle.

“Make no mistake, we see this as an area of enormous opportunity for KPMG. There are more than 4.9 million privately-owned businesses in the UK, of which 99.9 per cent are SMEs – many of which are early stage and small businesses who previously may have believed that the services and expertise of a Big Four firm were out of their reach."
