Mids deals value reaches £367bn
Midlands dealmakers have been involved in transactions worth almost £370bn over the past 21 years, according to exclusive Insider research.
A special supplement to coincide with last week's Dealmakers Awards found that 15,382 transactions have been completed in the Midlands from 1994 to 2015, generating a value of £367bn.
In 1994, when Midlands Business Insider held its inaugural Dealmakers Awards, a total of 517 deals were struck with a value of £9.05bn. By 1997, 739 deals were completed but the peak was reached in 2007 when 920 transactions worth £31.9bn were made.
Following the economic crash of 2009, the volume of deals almost halved to 574. While recovery has been gradual, with volumes rising to 720 in 2013 and 2014, the value of deals is rising once again, reaching £18.6bn last year.
The total number of Midlands acquisitions in the past 21 years almost reached 10,000 with a total value of £242.5bn. There were also 1,713 management buyouts (MBOs) worth £14.1bn, 119 secondary buyouts worth £6.3bn and 603 exits worth £60.7bn.
The research also includes a rundown of the most active 50 accountants, financial advisers, legal advisers and debt providers from the past 21 years.
