Severn Trent to cut 500 management jobs
Coventry-headquartered utilities provider Severn Trent is proposing to reduce its 6,000-strong UK workforce by about 500.
In August (2014), the company announced changes to its operating model and executive team structure. It is now looking at the wider management structure.
Severn Trent will cut 500 management and support roles but emphasised that frontline customer service positions would not be affected.
"We will be creating up to 100 additional front line roles as customer service remains our number one priority," a statement said.
"Over the next five years we have committed to deliver efficiencies, keep customer bills as low as possible and any rises to below inflation.
"In bringing the water and waste water operations businesses together we have identified areas of synergies, duplication and opportunities to work with less management/support roles."
