Barclays funds dog grooming growth
A Teesside entrepreneur has expanded her dog grooming business after receiving funding from Barclays.
Andrea Summersgill established Paws 'n' Claws in Marske in 2011 and acquired additional space for a pet shop as the business developed.
Now, following the growth of both operations, Summersgill has purchased her own premises to combine both at one site.
Summersgill said: "As the business developed the pet shop became a natural progression and with interest rates as low as they are I have now been able to purchase my own premises.
"It felt like a big step to make but Barclays helped with the funding and I'm delighted that I've not only secured the future of the business but have managed to purchase the premises with no increase on my previous monthly costs for the two leases I had."
The company now employs five people locally, including an apprentice as part of the government's apprenticeship scheme.
Trevor Jenkins, business banking manager at Barclays, arranged the funding. He said: "Paws 'n' Claws is a great example of how to turn a passion into a successful business and it has proved extremely popular in Marske and the surrounding area.
"Andrea is well positioned to take the business to the next level and her customers now have all the services she provides on one site."
