Buyer sought for aquatic retailer

An East Lancashire aquatic centre, which featured in TV series Bank of Dave, is seeking a buyer after entering administration.

Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Stanley of Begbies Traynor in Manchester have been appointed as joint administrators of Aquascope (The Aquatic Centre) Ltd.

The business stocks a range of aquatic creatures, including three blacktip reef sharks have since been re-housed at a Sea Life centre in Norfolk.

Aquascope secured investment from Burnley Loans and Savings, the business run by Dave Fishwick and star of TV's Bank of Dave. Aquascope featured in the show.

Director Steve Punchard said he is seeking to concentrate on his other business interest of breeding and selling specialist Discus fish.

Punchard said: "It would be ideal if a buyer can be found for the business so that the Aquascope name and ethos can be carried forward for many years to come."

Paul Stanley, regional managing partner for Begbies Traynor in Manchester, added: "The best solution for all concerned would be to find a buyer for the business who can take on the aquatic centre and all its stock.

"If no buyer can be found, however, we will make every effort to ensure we find the right new home for all Aquascope’s living stock."
