North West vying for £149m of RGF cash
Companies in the North West are seeking almost £150m of funding from the sixth round of the government's flagship economic stimulus the Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
The latest round closed at the end of September and 40 bids have now been received from the North West for £149m of support.
Nationally, 174 bids seeking £800m of cash have been made.
Round six is open to private sector bidders looking for £1m or more and has £200m of investment available to businesses.
This news came as chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander was in the region to open the new Molplex laboratories at Alderley Park.
The centre was supported by £1.2m from the fourth round of the RGF.
Danny Alexander said: "The government's Regional Growth Fund is helping create thousands of quality jobs, stimulate private sector investment and rebalance the economy. I am thrilled to see that the people of Cheshire are to benefit."
So far £460m of RGF money has been invested in the North West.
