Alan & Thomas makes Dorchester acquisition
A chartered insurance broker in Dorset has made its second acquisition in as many months after buying Casterbridge Insurance in Dorchester.
The new Dorchester branch of Poole-headquartered Alan & Thomas will operate from High West Street and the group plans to expand the broker's presence in the town, as well as creating jobs.
The latest acquisition, which follows the purchase of Arthur Savage Insurance, takes Alan & Thomas' workforce to 60 members of staff across four offices.
"Our plan is to build a strong footprint in the South West and to bring Casterbridge into the A&T family along with Arthur Savage, another recently acquired Dorchester based broking business, made perfect sense to us," said Alan & Thomas chief executive Julian Boughton.
Casterbridge was formed in 1991 by Corinne Simmonds and Patricia Buglass. Simmonds will join Alan & Thomas while Buglass will retire.
Boughton added: "Casterbridge have built an excellent reputation in the marketplace for providing a local, friendly and knowledgeable service and I am confident their contribution to Alan & Thomas will help us immeasurably in achieving our aims in the South West."
