Cox to step down as Somerset chamber chief
Rupert Cox, the chief executive of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, will step down from his role after almost nine years to take up a similar position at the Royal Bath & West of England Society in Shepton Mallet.
Cox will leave the chamber at Christmas. Insider understands that he will also relinquish his role as chief executive of inward investment body Into Somerset.
He said: "The organisation and those within it have become a significant part of my life for nearly nine years, and while I will miss the talented team that I have assembled, it is now the right time to develop my career even further with another much larger Somerset iconic brand at the Royal Bath & West of England Society."
Somerset Chamber chairman Graham Knight added: "While we are saddened to see Rupert leave us, we can all be proud of what we have achieved under his leadership and look forward to the next stage in the Somerset Chamber’s development with a new chief executive, who we will appoint in the New Year.
"Under Rupert’s leadership, the Somerset Chamber is the fastest growing chamber in the BCC network and we see this trend of growth continuing as we work towards our target of 700 members by the end of 2015, and 1,000 members by 2020."
