Jobs saved in Cornwall estate deal

By Storm Rannard, Digital Staff Writer

More than 100 jobs have been saved in Cornwall after a four-star hotel and spa was sold following the appointment of administrators.

Robin Allen and Richard Hawes, of business advisory firm Deloitte, were appointed joint-administrators of CMR (Leisure) Ltd, The Cornwall Estate Management Company Ltd, The Cornwall Hotel & Spa Ltd, and The Cornwall Country Estate Ltd on 5 November 2014.

The group trades as The Cornwall Hotel & Spa Estate in Tregorrick, St Austell, a 65-room hotel which was opened in 2010 and dates back to the 19th century. It also provides holiday lodges on its grounds.

Following their appointment administrators completed the sale of the estate to Belle Isle Hotels (Cornwall) Management Ltd. All 121 staff were transferred to the buyer, which will continue to trade the business.

Allen said: "We are pleased to have achieved this speedy and successful outcome, safeguarding the jobs of all who work at the hotel."
