Work begins on North Somerset solar farm
A subsidiary of German-based renewables giant ET Solar has started work on a new solar farm in North Somerset.
ET Solutions will construct the 8.7 MW scheme, which will be based on 42-acres of land in Somerton Door. Two thirds of the farm will remain as open grassland and it is expected to be connected to the grid by mid-November.
"Our solution for business in the UK is very strong this year thanks to the market's bourgeoning growth and our vast capabilities and experience on a global basis," said Dennis She, president and chief executive of ET Solar.
"Despite the potential changes in the subsidy environment in the country next year, we are committed to continuing to deliver one-stop solar energy solutions to our key customers in the market."
Kareen Boutonnat, managing director of Lightsource, said: "With one of the largest development pipelines in the UK, we have to ensure we build on relationships with our trusted partners like ET Solutions AG.
"We demand quality and consistency, working with partners who can deliver. We have high aspirations for this year and look forward to working with ET Solutions AG to add another quality asset to our operational portfolio."
The solar farm was developed by Lightsource Renewable Energy, which has a base in Bath.
