Yates appointed Bristol 2015 chief exec
The city director of Bristol City Council, Nicola Yates, has been appointed as chief executive of Bristol 2015, the company leading the city's year as European Green Capital.
The temporary appointment comes after the board of Bristol 2015 and former chief executive Kris Donaldson agreed not to renew his contract as part of a restructure. Yates will start in the role immediately.
Andrew Garrad, chairman of the Bristol 2015, said: "We are very grateful to Kris for his hard work in preparing an exciting programme and attracting some excellent government and private sector sponsorship and funding which will help make our vision for 2015 a reality.
"There’s a great deal of momentum and to make the most of it we need to gear Bristol 2015 towards the practical, on-the-ground delivery.
"Because of this we’re restructuring the team and have looked again at the chief executive role and what it does.
"Nicola is a great addition to the company, bringing with her some excellent management experience and a valuable rigour and discipline to apply in the back-office."
Yates' work will be separate from her role at the city council and will be completed in her own time.
Mayor of Bristol George Ferguson, who also sits on the Bristol 2015 board, added: "Some great work has already been done by Kris Donaldson and his team, especially in raising more funds than any previous Green Capital.
"We now move in to the next phase for which it’s important that we structure things to make the absolute best of the year on the local, national and international stage."
