Couple buy Llanarmon hotel

The Hand at Llanarmon hotel and restaurant in North Wales has been bought from an asking price of almost £700,000.

Owners Martin and Gaynor De Luchi sold the business to local couple Jonathan and Jackie Greatorex.

The sale of the hotel, listed in the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs 2015 guide, was arranged by property adviser Colliers International.

Original buildings at The Hand date from the mid-17th century when they were cottages and a farmhouse. It now features 13 double bedrooms and a two-bedroom cottage.

The property in Llanarmon, near Llangollen, has been refurbished throughout and has a lounge bar, restaurant, residents' lounge, snug and games room.

Martin and Gaynor De Luchi purchased the business in 2003 and now plan to take a six-month break before considering a new venture.

Neil Thomson, associate director for hotels agency at the North West office of Colliers, said: "Several parties came forward for this renowned country inn.

"Buyers in this segment of the market are increasingly confident, aided by an improving housing market and more readily available bank funding."
