Developer plans homes for Newport site
A planning application has been submitted to Newport City Council for a housing development on the site of a former Environment Agency depot.
The vacant site, which has been recently cleared, acted as an operational base for maintenance and capital schemes, as well as emergency response, since 1957.
Proposals for the development at the head of Frobisher Road include 16 terraced and semi-detached two-storey houses, in keeping with residential properties in the area.
Chartered town planning consultancy Shawn Cullen submitted the application on behalf of Tombar Homes Ltd.
"The site offers significant potential to create a well-designed residential development," the design and access statement said.
"The site development plan provides that 16 residential dwellings can be accommodated on the site and fit in well with surrounding developments and the setting. This has been discussed with officers at pre-application stage and agreement on this number of units has been reached."
