Finance Wales backs coat company
A Bridgend-based fashion business is set to bring its range of coats to the high street after securing a loan from Finance Wales.
Sexy Mac was created by Justine Jones and Lorna Oakley in 2013 and was officially launched in London in September.
Finance Wales has backed the business with a £25,000 package, enabling the business to purchase stock and boost production of the water proof coat to meet demand.
"Lorna and I both worked in the fashion industry and have dreamt of setting up our own business for some years," said Jones.
"We're both busy mothers and came up with the idea for Sexy Mac because we wanted a coat that's stylish, easy to wear and functional. A coat you could wear to work, to pick up the kids or go out for drinks in the evening."
Rhiannon Brewer, senior investment executive at Finance Wales' micro loan team, said: "Justine and Lorna have come up with a stylish, contemporary product with niche market appeal. They've also paid attention to the all-important design details that set Sexy Mac apart in a very competitive market.
"They've coupled their clear vision and industry experience to come up with a strong business plan. Our loan has funded a range of the business' start-up needs, enabling them to purchase stock, upgrade their website and ordering systems as well as to implement their marketing campaign."
Finance Wales backed Sexy Mac with capital from the Wales Micro-business Loan Fund.
