Four new tenants move into St Elli centre

St Elli Shopping Centre in  Llanelli has welcomed four new tenants, bringing the scheme almost to full occupation.

The lettings reflected improving sentiment in the retail sector, according to joint agent Cooke & Arkwright.

Burger King, Yours Clothing, Mobile Buddy and Emilia May Gifts have all agreed leases at NewRiver Retail's centre.

The 160,000 sq ft retail development, which the real estate investment trust purchased from Axa for almost £30m at the end of 2013, is anchored by an Asda supermarket at one end and a traditional market hall at the other. Comprising more than 20 stores on one floor under a glass pyramid ceiling, it attracts more than 135,000 visitors each week.

Burger King has taken the former Gamestation store with a 85-seat restaurant; Mobile phones and accessories specialist Mobile Buddy has moved into the former Julian Graves shop; women's fashion retailer Yours Clothing has taken the former New Look unit; and independent gift shop Emilia May Gifts has relocated from small premises in nearby Stepney Street and expanded into the former Thorntons store.

Centre manager Andrew Stephens said: "NewRiver are very hands-on and they have implemented a number of initiatives which are enhancing this vibrant scheme."

Cooke & Arkwright and Jackson Criss are joint letting agents for the scheme.
