Jones-Evans joins ICE board
The Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise (ICE) has appointed Dylan Jones-Evans, the University of the West of England professor, to its board.
Jones-Evans joins ICE, the Caerphilly start-up campus, as a non-executive director. He said: "Welsh ICE has become the ‘go to’ place for aspiring entrepreneurs in Wales.
"We know that start-ups create the net majority of new jobs in an economy so we have got to create more in Wales, but even though young people are most likely to want to start their own business the conversion rate is still quite low, so they need a robust support structure in order to succeed.
"There is still a perceived lack of wealth and a general misunderstanding of the investment opportunities available in Wales, both from the investor’s and the entrepreneur’s perspective, which is something that very much needs addressing if we are to continue building on improvements to the UK economy as a whole."
Jones-Evans is also a visiting professor of entrepreneurship at Turku University in Finland and has served as the vice-president (UK) for the European Council of Small Business.
