Santander bolsters SME support with new appointment

Santander Corporate & Commercial has appointed a new business development director to boost support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Wales.

Paul Brooks will be based at the bank's corporate business centres in Swansea and Cardiff. He will be responsible for building relationships will clients in Wales as Santander looks to expand its operations in the country.

Brooks was previously a relationship director at Santander and replaces Michael Davies, who has been promoted to head of business development across the UK.

Robin Davies, regional director for Wales for Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: "Santander Corporate & Commercial has established itself as a major supporter of Welsh businesses and is committed to building long-lasting relationships with our customers so that we are able to provide tailored support at every stage of their business life.

"We are committed to growing our relationship teams to provide this dedicated support for more local businesses, as our own business continues to expand and grow."

The appointment follows the bank's increase in net lending to Welsh SMEs, which has risen by 25 per cent in 2014. Net lending to SMEs in Wales now stands at £565m.
