Smart Solutions enjoys record year
Smart Solutions, the recruitment agency, enjoyed a record turnover after its "most successful year in business" with income leaping by 35 per cent. It has now set an £80m turnover target.
The Newport-headquartered group posted a turnover of £56m for the year to 31 July 2014, an increase of more than £10m from the year before.
Its success has been attributed to strong growth in the domestic market. The growth strategies have resulted in the company increasing its workforce from 120 to 172, with 22 vacancies being filled.
Smart Solutions is also on course for another record year, as it aims for its £80m target for the end of its current financial period.
Chief executive Nathan Bowles said: "We’ve seen historic clients bounce back from recession, particularly in the manufacturing sector, and this has enabled us to consolidate supply for many of our clients to be the main or sole supplier of labour."
"We’ve also set up a central commercial division, bringing in experienced tender bidders, which has already resulted in us winning several local authority tenders across England and Wales.
"And as we’ve been working to expand our logistics offering, we are looking to acquire a logistics focussed recruitment firm in the north of England to provide a better presence and improved client service, which will bring with it new staff, onsite accounts with blue chip clients and the opportunity to better service recently awarded national contracts."
Bowles added that the company had "bold growth plans" and a "strong forecast in place" for the next year.
