Workman appointed chairman of Traveline

Richard Workman, the director of technical services at Carmarthenshire Council, has been appointed as chairman for Traveline Cymru.

He will take up his role at the Welsh government's public transport information service on 6 November 2014 following the retirement of Alan Kreppel, who has held the post since 2006.

Graham Walter, managing director of Traveline Cymru, said: "Richard has a unique and rounded knowledge of public transport and local authority issues, and understands the passenger's need for accurate and up to date public transport information; this holds him in great stead for this position."

Workman said: "From my experience of working at Carmarthenshire County Council and with Welsh government and transport operators for the last 11 years, I am keen to build on the excellent work done to date by Traveline Cymru to ensure the public have all the information they need to make informed sustainable travel choices."

Workman will take up the post for a fixed term of three years and will be responsible for the governance, operational issues and strategic direction of the board.
