Xwavia acquired by ITS
A broadband company headquartered in Welshpool has been snapped up by ITS Technology Group.
ITS, based in Runcorn, has bought the assets of Xwavia. It is broadband infrastructure and IT managed services provider ITS's third acquisition this year.
ITS will adopt the Xwavia brand and retain its Welshpool office. It will take on all customer contracts and protect the roles of 12 technical and operational staff.
In May 2014, Xwavia secured a £1.2m investment from Finance Wales.
Roy Shelton, chief executive and founder of ITS, said: "We have made three strategic acquisitions this year in order to strengthen our proposition as a leading broadband provider to those areas that are overlooked by the big players.
"Xwavia has successfully delivered broadband to areas of Wales that aren't even served by mains gas, electricity or water. Its methods of providing broadband will benefit and play a much wider role across ITS' customer base and projects.
"The acquisition will protect the assets already built, as well as the commitment to fulfil all Xwavia's contracts, means that the future of superfast broadband in Wales is in safe hands."
ITS purchased CityServe in Manchester in June and Yorkshire-headquartered Networks by Wireless in September.
