Dealmakers work on international chemicals deal
Lawyers from Bond Dickinson's chemicals and manufacturing team based in Leeds have advised US-based Vertellus Specialties on its acquisition of UK fine chemicals manufacturer Pentagon Chemical Holdings.
The acquisition, led by Bond Dickinson corporate partner Alistair Scott-Somers, expands Vertellus' manufacturing presence in the agrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Vertellus operates a global manufacturing base and employs an 800-strong workforce.
Pentagon, which has bases in Widnes and Workington, is one of the largest independent manufacturers of specialty chemicals in the UK and its products are used in the crop chemicals, oilfield, paper and pharmaceutical industries.
Alistair Scott-Somers said: "Our involvement in the deal reflects our team's experience in this sector.
"The position of Pentagon in the market makes this a strong acquisition and the transatlantic nature of the deal reflects the global connectivity of the chemicals sector.
"We look forward to further building our relationship with Vertellus in the future."
