F1 designer revs up with Crowdcube pitch
A North Yorkshire business run by a former Williams Formula 1 designer is looking to raise £250,000 through a crowdfunding pitch.
Inspired by Apple, Nicolas Perrin established Malham-based Perrinn in 2001 to design a collection of goods for sale online, ranging from a bicycle to an espresso machine, with the showcase product being its Le Mans race car (pictured).
Perrin is a design engineer from France with experience at the top level of motorsport. He started his career as a Le Mans race engineer at Courage (2002-2004) before joining Williams F1 (2005-2010).
The motorsport entrepreneur is now hoping to raise £250,000 to help develop and supply new products. In his online pitch, Perrin references the rapid growth of e-commerce which now accounts for 2bn in Western Europe.
Crowdcube launched in 2011 and has since raised more than £30m for 130 start-up and early stage businesses. The funder provides an online platform for start-up companies to raise finance in order to grow, with investors able to pledge as little as £10.
